Within walking distance of Ancud’s Plaza de Armas, in the northern part of the city and boasting impressive views of the bay and Lacuy Peninsula, Panamericana Hotel Ancud is in the vicinity of the Spanish San Antonio Fort. In Ancud, you can see the last forts that the Spanish crown defended in South America, in particular Fort San Antonio and San Miguel of Ahui Castle located at Lacuy peninsula on Chiloé Island.

The rocky islands of Puñihuil provide breeding grounds for the Humbolt and Magellanic penguins. It is the only reserve in the world where they share the same habitat. One hour by boat from Ancud, is Doña Sebastiana Island, home to over 2,000 sea lions. During the winter months in Caulín, a small hamlet west of Chacao, it is possible to observe hundreds of flamingos.
City:
The Ancud Regional Museum’s detailed collection tracks the history of the island up to the present day. Worth noting also is the new handcrafts market, constructed with timbers native to Chiloé, where a variety of products, both from rural Chiloé and from the city, are sold.

Chiloé's Churches number 42, sixteen of which were designated Unesco World Heritage Sites in December 2000.
